Mein Name ist Siegfried Knöbl – Künstlername Sigurd -, geb. 1960, Autodidakt, lebe und arbeite in Graz. Schon seit meiner Volksschulzeit male und zeichne ich, habe aber erst 1991 begonnen, mit Ölfarben zu malen. Meine Bilder entstehen in meinem kleinen Atelier. In der Kunstrichtung orientiere ich mich am phantastischen Realismus der Österreicher Ernst Fuchs, Rudolf Hausner und Arik Brauer. Sie gelten als Mitbegründer der Wiener Schule des phantastischen Realismus, eine besondere Form der phantastischen Malerei, in der das Absurde und die Vorliebe für Trance und Halluzinationen fehlte, wie es im Surrealismus üblich war. Ernst Fuchs ist bis heute ihr bedeutendster Vertreter.

My name is Siegfried Knöbl – artist name Sigurd -, born 1960, self- taught painter, live and work in Graz. Since I went to primary school I loved to draw and paint, but only after ’91 I began to paint in oil on canvas in. The style I’m oriented in is the so called Phantastic Realism, invented by the Austrian painters Ernst Fuchs, Rudolf Hausner and Arik Brauer. They are also known as the co-founders of the Wiener Schule des phantastischen Realismus, a particular form of phantastic painting, missing the absurdity and the preference for trance und hallucination as one finds in the style of surrealism. Ernst Fuchs is till today the most significant representative of this art.
